Cocktail Room

The transformation of the former plain and white space into a sumptuous haven stands as a testament to refined creative vision. Tasked with revitalizing this cocktail room design, René Dekker Design a Top London Interior Designer created a luxurious yet inviting retreat that exudes sophistication while maintaining an informal ambiance. The transformation journey culminated in an “Elegant Deco refresh” that marries classic charm with contemporary splendour.

Initially, the room’s blank canvas was a challenge, as it needed to be infused with personality without overwhelming its inherent potential. The colour palette was reimagined with a green, black, and gold scheme as the key ingredients, establishing a striking visual narrative of black and gold décor accented by subtle hints of green. Each hue was carefully curated to evoke an opulent atmosphere while balancing audacity with elegance.

A design imperative was to incorporate the existing black lacquered piano—a timeless piece that added a historic touch to the room’s narrative. The piano now commands its space gracefully, acting as both a focal point and a nod to the room’s heritage. Equally important was the reupholstered Kagan sofa, an icon in comfort and style, which now features a revamped finish that enhances its contours and lines, drawing attention to its luxurious fabric and meticulous craftsmanship.

The design journey continued with a playful but purposeful twist: the repurposing of the voile curtains. Instead of being consigned to the shadows, these graceful draperies were reinvented as integral decorative elements. The interplay of light and texture adds depth, while the updated fabric quality complements the overall scheme. Enhancing the tactile experience further, new velvet scatter cushions in complementary colours were introduced, lending both comfort and a sense of bespoke sophistication to the seating arrangements.

In tandem, the integration of a striking Ralph Lauren wall covering introduced an aura of refined opulence to the space. This element not only anchors the design but also serves as an understated canvas that highlights the bespoke artistry in the room. The presence of the existing Fat Fat tables from B&B Italia further adding a contemporary touch that harmonizes with the vintage charm of the piano and the modern twist of the reupholstered sofa.

To complete the transformative vision, every detail was given equal weight. A custom bespoke silk rug was re-used with its intricate pattern and rich texture grounding the overall design while drawing the eye to the interplay of luxurious materials. Accents, finishes, and carefully curated furnishings all work synergistically to create a setting that is both refined and welcoming.  The result is a cocktail room that looks undeniably luxurious and high end, yet still exudes a relaxed, informal vibe. This creative confluence of traditional elegance and modern design sensibilities has redefined the living space into a vibrant social hub.
