
Top London Interior design studio, Rene Dekker Design, developed this Canary Wharf bar as part of a bigger comprehensive restaurant project, designed to integrate aesthetics with functionality. Every material and structural element was selected with the intention of creating a visually appealing yet practical space. The flooring featured faux timber planking in three distinct shades, laid at various angles to introduce a dynamic visual element. This approach provided texture and contrast, contributing to the overall ambiance without compromising durability.
The bar counter design incorporated a mix of materials to achieve a contemporary yet robust design. The front was constructed from concrete, adding an industrial feel. Antique silver laminate was used for design accents, complementing the polished dark blue faux marble top, which provided a striking contrast. Integrated lighting was installed beneath the counter, serving both aesthetic and functional purposes by subtly illuminating the space. To enhance practicality, USB power points were incorporated under the counter, allowing patrons to charge devices while seated.
The back bar followed a similar philosophy of material diversity. A combination of antique copper laminate and sandblasted mirror added depth and character, with small LED spotlights providing focused lighting. The inclusion of under-counter fridges and glass storage ensured smooth operational efficiency, keeping beverages and glassware conveniently accessible for staff.
One of the defining architectural elements was the angled dropped mirror ceiling. Designed with additional angled mirrors and halo lighting, it contributed to the spatial perception and enhanced the reflective qualities within the bar. This structural feature helped distribute light evenly while creating a distinctive visual appeal.
The completed bar seamlessly blended aesthetic elements with functional design choices, aligning with the broader objectives of the restaurant project. By integrating various finishes, lighting solutions, and practical components such as USB ports and storage, the space was designed to be both inviting and operationally effective. The combination of materials and structural forms ensured durability while maintaining a modern and engaging atmosphere for patrons.
