A seamless and well implemented interior design requires a considered approach that is tailored to the client’s desires, sympathetic to the building, and enhances the property by increasing functionality and adding value. As luxury interior designers in London we have completed a wide range of stunning commercial and residential interior design schemes. Our highly skilled and experienced luxury interior designers can provide interior design solutions that incorporate feasibility studies, concept design, spatial planning as well as the specification of finishes and fixtures. Depending on the nature of the project, we can work autonomously as the lead designers or work in conjunction with a client appointed architect.
When it comes to the soft furnishings, we can arrange image, mood and sample boards, construct a cost analysis and manage the procurement. We oversee the suppliers and tradesmen to ensure that a timely delivery of the best quality finish is accomplished. Our long standing relationships with the industry’s best artists and craftsmen allow us to provide exceptional detailing while using top quality materials.
A concept is an idea that contextualizes a message in interesting, unique, and memorable ways through both form and design content. It is the process of progressing ideas to solve specified design problems. The concepts are developed in phases, from formless idea to a precise message in an appropriate form with supportive visuals and content. Once we have done the research and understand exactly what our client wants to achieve and why, we will be ready to start working on the actual design. Ideally, we are trying to develop a concept that provides solutions that communicate effectively on multiple levels, is unique and exciting, and stands out from what others are producing. Good design takes time and we spend a great deal of that coming up with ideas; editing, revising, and refining them; and then evaluating their results.
‘Deciding on the look and function of a space and creating a series of drawings to translate this to the client’.
The design development phase takes the approved conceptual design and develops the plans, elevations and details of the project in conjunction with the client and architect. The developed detail design stage includes as necessary, furniture/area layouts and samples, photographs or sketches of selected fittings. The colour palette and material palette are also developed during this phase.
We pride ourselves in being able to obtain and present a broad spectrum of the most wonderful finishes. The finishes are really the hard landscaping of the project and define the space long before it is decorated or accessorised. These include everything from ceramic tiles, timber for joinery (including sheen level), stone and marble, wall coverings, flooring and specialist decorations. The secret is the right combination. We have an in-depth understanding of the quality required for each project, relative costs and most importantly durability and our close relationship with suppliers enables us to have access to items not usually available to the public.
Being creative and able to come up with unique and exciting schemes is only part of our high end offering. We have a thorough understanding and appreciation for providing comprehensive breakdowns of not only the details but also the costs. We understand that our clients have worked hard for their money and they expect us to treat it with the same care and diligence that they do. As part of our scope of works we include scheme selections sheets covering all aspects of the FF&E. We create programmes with specific timelines and stick rigidly to these and we ensure all notes are distributed to the team so that everyone is ‘singing from the same hymn sheet’.
Every step of the way, we liaise and consult with the client on all matters. Our first step is to set up regular client meetings. These take the form of informal discussions on design direction, site progress, meetings with consultants and specialists to look at options, days out to marble yards and wall paper designers and many more. During the course of the project, all matters are thoroughly discussed and noted. We are happy to work independently or with a client appointed architect to provide tenders for the work and will consult at all levels with specialists and other consultants such as M&E, electrical, Building Control, landlord etc..
After months of design, consultation and tender, the project is ready to go to site and this aspect of the project will most likely take the lion’s share of the programme. In the absence of an architect, RDD can act as Contract Administrator where we will ensure that valuations are signed off and check that the work has been completed as specified. We can lead regular site meetings right up to practical completion as far as a soft hand over to the client. During this period RDD can prepare and issue further interior design details as reasonably required by the architect or main contractor, that will assist in construction.
For any project to be successful, seamless and easy going, it is paramount that the every link in the supply chain understands each other at every point. René Dekker Design Limited has a long history with many of the best tradesmen and craftsmen in the UK, artisans who have honed their craft to perfection and who understand the essence of what high end quality demands. From builders and joiners to upholsterers and curtain manufacturers we can effortlessly put together a team that will suit every project.
The devil is in the detail; it defines the work and sets it apart. Stitching on leather, shadow gaps, bronze trim or cross banded veneer will make just that little bit of a difference to an item that would otherwise be utilitarian. It will turn a chest of drawers into an artwork or a dining table into a conversation piece, it will never disappoint!
Fabrics are what will set the project apart from others, they are the magic that will transform the ordinary into the opulent and they will be the dinner party conversation of the future. Fabrics bring out the life in the project, they will turn the mundane into the exciting, eagerly waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. Raw silk, sheer voiles and stitched leather are the components that make up the symphony of the interior.
This is the final stage in the process, this is where the long months of planning magically come together to create the ultimate scheme. Like the other stages, this one is equally well planned, where the order of works ensures a smooth installation. Art and accessories are chosen as part of the proposal and carefully placed for optimum results. René Dekker Design Limited has many years of experience in this field and our history with suppliers ensures that the clients benefit from the best possible trade prices.
