Modern Sleigh Bed

This modern sleigh bed is a contemporary take on a traditional furniture item, first seen in the French and American Empire style in the 19th century. We wanted to emulate this wonderful design but in a more modern fashion so we simplified the lines and took away the feet still retaining the essence of the form. The frame was fashioned from solid black American walnut and the foot board was upholstered in a taupe, shagreen embossed leather. The inside footboard, side panels and headboard were upholstered in a simple ottoman stripe in light taupe, white and navy blue. When it was installed this perfect piece complimented the classical design of the bedroom.
