It was our intention to decorate every bedroom in this 7 bedroom house, with a completely different scheme. The client loved colour and didn’t want us to take the ‘theme’ too seriously but rather create schemes that had more of a playful nature. Our inspiration was taken from a colourful Japanese inspired wall covering called Japanese Garden by Osborn & Little. It depicts Geishas in wonderfully ornate kimonos enjoying the simple pleasures of walking around the garden. With a colour palette like this, the sky was the limit when it came to creating the interior decoration scheme with complimenting colours. For the rest of the walls we chose a seafoam colour using a Japanese cloud design which really grounded the scheme. We added colourful fabrics and pasmenterie from Pierre Frey, Zimmer Rohde and Houles as scatter cushions and the bed spread fabric is an Asian inspired floral delight from Black Edition. We chose a simple dark timber four poster bed which emulates the Sho Sugi Ban style frequently seen in Japanese culture. The room was completed using a raffia fabric on the sliding wardrobe doors and adding Asian inspired soft bronze wall lights.
