Classic Desk

An exercise in shape and form! The Classical Study in our Modern farmhouse project, required a slick, sophisticated desk for the owner. It needed to feel designed and unique, not just in shape but also in its use of varied finishes. The design started with the standard rectangular box, sizing it to the room so that it not only fitted the space but worked for the client. The two front corners were removed and replaced with softer curves which made it friendlier and less formal. Part of the front was also cut away so that it felt lighter leaving only two side vanity panels to hide cables and the back of the drawer boxes. To give the desk a more refined look, a large shadow gap was created so that the top felt like it was almost floating. Finishes include embossed leather to the base and a dark walnut top with brass detailing. Finally, the drawers were adorned with fine bronze and brass ironmongery.
