Set in the heart of this golden postal code, this 8 000 square foot house needed to be updated and rejuvenated to create a magnificent home for an international family. Apportioned over seven floors, the completed project was to include a small swimming pool and gym, formal and informal living spaces, a master suite that would occupy one entire floor plus several further en suite bedrooms and staff accommodation. Whilst René Dekker Design’s presentation included the re-planning of the secondary floors, the studio focused on the first floor principle reception room to focus the client’s approval. Whilst not listed, the home had to embrace the many classical features like cornicing, panelling and fire places while still including more modern elements like the furniture and lighting. Our final presentation included modern décor such as arm chairs and corner sofas as well as classical Murano chandeliers and with the luxury of space, the piece de resistance was a grand piano.
